Vanguard Group, is a registered U.S. investment advisor based in Malvern, Pennsylvania with approximately $6.2 trillion in global assets under management, as of January 31, 2020. It is the world's largest mutual fund provider and the second largest supplier of ETFs after BlackRock shares. In addition to mutual funds and ETFs, Vanguard offers brokerage services, variable and fixed pensions, educational accounting services, financial planning, asset management and trust services. Many mutual funds managed by Vanguard are ranked at the top of the List of U.S. Mutual Funds through assets under management. Along with BlackRock and State Street, Vanguard is one of the three major index funds that dominate American companies. founder and former Chairman John C. Bogle is credited with creating the first index fund available to individual investors and was a major supporter of low-cost investment by individuals. Vanguard is owned by the funds managed by the company and therefore owned by its clients. Vanguard offers two categories of most of its funds: investor shares and admiral shares. The Admiral's share has slightly lower expense ratios but requires a higher minimum investment, often ranging from $3,000 to $100,000 per fund. Vanguard is headquartered in Malvern, Pennsylvania, a suburb of Philadelphia. It has satellite offices in Charlotte, North Carolina, and Scottsdale, Arizona. The company also has offices in Canada, Australia, Asia and Europe.
