GoPro, Inc. (marketed as GoPro and sometimes stylized as GoPRO) is an American technology company founded in 2002 by Woodman. It manufactures motion cameras, develops its own mobile applications and video editing software. Founded as Woodman Labs, Inc., the company eventually focused on the connected sports genre, the development of a line of working cameras and, later, video editing software. Based in San Mateo, California. developed a quad drone, Karma, released in October 2016. In January 2018, Karma was suspended and JPMorgan Chase was hired to pursue the company's sales options. However, a month later, the CEO denied this. GoPro continued its work in the manufacture of working cameras. the company was founded by Woodman in 2002. This was driven by a 2002 surfing trip to Australia in which he had hoped to take high-quality action photos, but amateur photographers could not get close enough or buy suitable quality equipment at affordable prices. The name 'GoPro' came about Woodman and his surfing friends all aspiring to become professional surfers as 'go pro' was the ultimate goal and the only way to be filmed on the water at the time.
