Google LLC is an American multinational technology company that specializes in Internet-related services and products, which include online advertising technologies, search engine, cloud computing, software, and hardware. It is considered one of the top five technology companies in the IT industry in the United States, along with Amazon, Facebook, Apple, and Microsoft.Google was founded in September 1998 by Larry Page and Sergey Brin when they were PhD students at Stanford University in California. Together, they own about 14 percent of its shares and control 56 percent of the voting power of shareholders through premium shares. They incorporated Google as a California private company held on September 4, 1998. Google was reintegrated into Delaware on October 22, 2002. The Initial Public Offering (IPO) was launched on August 19, 2004, and Google moved to its headquarters in Mountain View, California, aka Googleplex. In August 2015, Google announced plans to reorganize its various interests as a conglomerate called Alphabet Inc. Google, alphabet's leader and will remain alphabet's all-inclusive internet interest company. Sundar Pichai was appointed CEO of Google, replacing Larry Page, who became CEO of Alphabet. In 2021, the Alphabet Workers Guild was established, consisting mainly of Google employees. The company's rapid growth since its inception has led to a series of products, acquisitions and partnerships outside Google's core search engine. It offers services designed for work and productivity (Google Docs, Google Spreadsheets and Offers Google), Gmail, scheduling and time management (Google Calendar), cloud storage (Google Drive), instant messaging and video chat (Duo, Hangouts, Chat, Loyalty), language translation (Google Translate), mapping and navigation (maps) Google, Waze, Google Earth, Roamview, podcast hosting, YouTube, blogger, note-taking (Google Keep and Google Jamboard) and photo organizing and editing (Google Photos). The company is leading the development of android mobile operating system, Google Chrome browser, and Chrome operating system, a lightweight operating system based on chrome browser. Google has increasingly moved to devices; Google has also experimented with becoming an internet carrier (Google Fiber, Google Fi, Google Station). Google.com is the most visited site around the world. Many other Google-owned sites are also on the list of the most popular sites, including YouTube and Blogger.Google was the world's most valuable brand in 2017 (surpassed by Amazon), but have received considerable criticism on issues such as privacy concerns, tax avoidance, antitrust, censorship, and search neutrality.
