Boeing Is a U.S. multinational company that designs, manufactures and sells aircraft, rotary aircraft, rockets, satellites, communications equipment and missiles worldwide. The company also provides leasing and product support services. Boeing is among the world's largest aerospace companies. It is the second largest defense contractor in the world based on 2018 revenues and the largest source in the United States by dollar value. Boeing shares are included in the Dow Jones Industrial Average. Boeing was founded in Delaware. The current company is the result of Boeing's merger with McDonnell Douglas on August 1, 1997. Boeing Chairman and CEO Philip M. Condit took on those roles at the joint venture, while Harry Stonesepfer, former CEO of McDonnell Douglas, became president and CEO. Boeing is headquartered in Chicago, Illinois. Boeing is divided into five main divisions: Boeing Commercial Aircraft (BCA); and Boeing 2000.1008. Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS); Engineering, Operations and Technology; Boeing Capital; Boeing Joint Services Group. In 2019, Boeing recorded sales of US$76.6 billion. Boeing ranks 40th in the Fortune 500 (2019) list and 121st on the Fortune Global 500 (2020). In 2019, Boeing's global reputation, business and financial rating suffered after the 737 Max stopped worldwide after two fatal accidents in late 2018 and early 2019.
