Kadokawa Company (Japanese: 株式 社Kadokawa, Hepburn: Kabashiki-gaisha Kadokawa) formerly Kadukawa Dwango Corporation, The company known today as Kadokawa Company was originally founded in 1945 as Kadokawa Shoten, to "energize Japanese culture through publishing" in the post-war era. It was merged with Dwangu Co., Ltd. to form Kadukawa Dwangu on October 1, 2014, and became a subsidiary of Kdokawa Dwangu. in February 2019, Kadukawa Dwango announced that Dwangu would cease to be their subsidiary to be a direct subsidiary of Kadokawa in the reorganization of the company. This made Kadokawa the sole subsidiary of Kadokawa Dwango Holding. The original name Kadokawa Shotten remains as a brand and division of Kadokawa Future Publishing.
