Vodafone Group BC () is a British multinational telecommunications company. Its registered office and global headquarters are located in Newbury, Berkshire, England. It often operates services in Asia, Africa, Europe and Oceania. until November 2020, Vodafone owns and operates networks in 22 countries, and has partner networks in 48 other countries. Vodafone's global project division provides telecommunications and IT services to corporate customers in 150 countries. Vodafone has a major listing on the London Stock Exchange and is a component of the FTSE 100 index. The company has a secondary listing on NASDAQ. Vodafone name comes from iPhone voice data (the latter an exciting satire of "phone"), chosen by the company to "reflect the provision of voice and data services via mobile phones". Vodafone development began in 1981 with the establishment of Ratal Strategic Radio Ltd. of Rasal Electronics, the UK's largest maker of military radio technology, which formed a joint venture with Milicom called "Racal", which evolved into the current Vodafone.
