TC Energy Company (formerly TransCanada) is a major North American energy company, based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, that develops and operates energy infrastructure in Canada, the United States and Mexico. The company operates three core companies: natural gas pipelines, liquid sys and energy pipelines. natural gas pipeline network includes 92,600 kilometers (57,539 miles) of gas pipeline, which transports more than 25% of north American natural gas demand. The pipeline division includes 4,900 kilometres (1,900 miles) of oil pipelines, which transport 590,000 barrels of crude oil a day, about 20 percent of Canada's western exports. The Power Division owns or has interests in 11 power plants with a combined capacity of 6,600 MW. These energy sources include nuclear and natural gas released. The company was founded in 1951 in Calgary. TC Energy is the largest shareholder in, and owns its general partner, TC PipeLines. the company was founded in 1951 by a special law of Parliament as trans-Canada Pipelines Ltd. The company's purpose was to develop the TransCanada pipeline (now known as the Canadian Main Line) to supply eastern Canadian markets with natural gas produced in the West.
