Orica Limited (ASX: ORI) is an Australian-based multinational company with one of the world's largest suppliers of commercial explosives and blasting systems to the mining, quarrying, oil and gas and construction markets, a sodium cyanide gold mining supplier, and a specialist provider of ground support services in mining and tunnels. Orica has a workforce of about 11,500 employees and contractors, and customer service in more than 100 countries. Orica is listed on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX: ORI). In recent years, it has experienced a number of high-profile industrial accidents and deaths. was initially founded in 1874 as Jones & Scott & Co., a supplier of explosives during the Victorian Gold Rush, the company was purchased by Noble Industries. Noble later merged with several British chemical manufacturers to form the Imperial Chemical Industries. In 1928, imperial chemical industries were founded in Australia and New Zealand (ICIANZ) to obtain and coordinate all Australian interests of the ICI Legislature.
