ResMed is a medical equipment company based in San Diego, California. It primarily provides medical devices that can be connected to the cloud to treat sleep apnea (e.g. CPAP and its masks), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and other respiratory conditions. ResMed has produced more than 150,000 ventilators and dual-level devices to help treat respiratory symptoms for patients with COVID-19. ResMed also provides programmes for out-of-hospital care agencies to simplify transitions from care to care between older persons and their caregivers (i.e. home health, nursing homes, skilled nursing facilities, life plan communities, higher living centres, and special duty). ResMed employs more than 7,500 employees worldwide as of June 2020. The company operates in more than 140 countries worldwide and has manufacturing facilities in Australia, Singapore, France and the United States. Revenue was US$3.0 billion in fiscal year 2020. ResMed was founded in 1989 by Peter Farrell in Australia. He moved to San Diego in 1990. On March 1, 2013, Mick Farrell, Peter's son, became the company's new CEO. Peter moved to a non-executive role at the end of the year.
