Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson (lit phone stock company of LM Ericsson), known as Ericsson, is a Swedish multinational networking and communications company based in Stockholm. The company provides ICT services, software and infrastructure to telecommunications operators, traditional telecommunications, IP equipment, mobile and fixed broadband networks, operations and business support services, cable television, internet television, video systems, and large-scale service operation. Ericsson had a 27% market share in the 2G/3G/4G mobile network market in 2018, thus being the largest non-Chinese company. The company was founded in 1876 by Lars Magnus Eriksson and was taken over by the Wallenberg family in 1960. Today, the family, through its holding company Investor AB, has a dominant voting power of 22.53%. As of 2016 headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden. The company employs about 95,000 people and operates in about 180 countries. Ericsson has more than 49,000 patents granted as of September 2019, including many in wireless communications. Ericsson is the inventor of Bluetooth technology. Ericsson leads the implementation of 5G worldwide, partly through the use of huge MIMO technology.
