Discovery, Inc. is an American multinational mass media television company based in New York City. Founded in 1985, the company primarily manages a range of pseudo-reality brands and tv lifestyle, such as discovery channel of the same name, Animal Planet, Science Channel, and TLC. In 2018, the company acquired Scripps Networks Interactive, adding networks such as Food Network, HGTV and Travel Channel to its portfolio. Since the purchase, Discovery has described itself as serving members of the "emotional" audience. Discovery also owns or has interests in local versions of its channel brands in international markets, in addition to its other major regional operations such as Eurosport (Pan-European Sports Channel Group, most notably Olympic rights holder throughout most of Europe), GolfTV (international streaming service focused on golf, international digital rights holder for PGA Tour), Communications Discovery Nordic (which operates useful channels in Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland), GOLFTV (international streaming service focused on golf, international digital rights to the PGA Tour), Communications Discovery Nordic (which operates useful channels in Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland) and tvn group in Poland and a general channel group Various free in Germany, Italy, New Zealand and the UK.
